How to use the Health care and social assistance dashboard

The Health care and social assistance dashboard brings together data on work-related fatalities and compensation claims. The dashboard includes a Mental stress page as workers in this industry can be exposed to higher-than-average psychosocial hazards. There is also a page focussed on Body stressing (which includes manual handling). See data for: Hospitals; Medical and other services; Residential care services; and Social assistance services sectors.

To use the dashboard:

  • Select 'Pages' to access the data.
  • Apply filters to change the timeframe or claim type (from serious to other claims), or to filter by variables such as age group, sex or location (state or territory).
  • Click inside the charts to cross filter other charts on the page (hold 'Ctrl' to select more than one bar).
  • View the interactive dashboard help video or dashboard user guide.

To see how Health care and social assistance compares with other industries go to the Work-related fatalities dashboard or Workers' compensation dashboard. Visit the Safe Work Australia website for Health care and social assistance WHS guidance.

Note: The dashboard provides counts, frequency rates, median cost and time lost data. There is a break in series for work-related injury frequency and incident rates from 2021-22. Learn more about the data on the Work-related fatalities data and Workers' compensation data pages.
