The Beta Occupational Hazards Dataset (BOHD) contains selected data about workplace hazards and risks, including the ‘work context’ of occupations. Part of this includes information on how often workers in occupations are exposed to, or involve doing, things which may result in injury or illness.Safe Work Australia constructed this dataset by mapping selected fields from the United States’ O*NET database onto the Australian occupational classification (ANZSCO), combining this with Safe Work Australia’s workers’ compensation claims data and ABS employment levels for each occupation to reflect the composition of the Australian labour market. The BOHD can be used to supplement a robust risk management process. However the data, and results of any analysis using the BOHD, should be interpreted with caution, as it is not a definitive source on workplace exposures.
